Thurso Heritage Society is currently planning a series of talks to help raise funds towards the conservation of Old St. Peters church. The first of which was given by the well known local historian Mr. Iain Sutherland. Held in Caithness Horizons on the 4th November 2009 it attracted a large crowd which filled the Education Room to capacity. Iain gave an interesting and informative account of religion prior to the building of Old St. Peters along with a few humorous stories. A second talk held jointly with the Caithness Field Club regarding Old St. Peters church was held on 17th January 2010. The lecture given by the knowledgeable Mr. George Watson covered various aspects of the church. George has an incredible knowledge of the county so once again this proved to be another popular talk to a sold out venue.Coming soon is an illustrated talk by local historian Mr. Alan McIvor and Mr. Sandy Gunn.Keep visiting the site, lots of new pages will be uploaded soon packed with information on various subjects relating to Thurso and more information about various events which will be held soon.
